Well, this is the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen. If you expect anything else than a protection case to your iPhone 3G, be prepared to be disappointed.
The Wazabee 3DeeShell is a case for your iPhone with a removable lenticular screen that is ment to enable stereo 3D images, videos and games on your iPhone 3G. The shell/case comes in a variety of colors, and seen only as a case it is protective and tight. The package also comes with a protective foil to put on your touch screen. Nice, but the time I have had my iPhone, I have never used one and still no scratches. The lenticular screen is made of hard plastic, is 6.5x5.5cm and about a mm thick. It slides into a slot on the top of the case, ending up covering most, but not all of the iPhone display. The reason is because it is hard plastic, you need some space for navigating the touch-screen. If you need to touch anything but the lower cm of your screen, the lenticular sceen has to be pushed up ending up sticking out of the case. This is nothing you would carry around every day since it is very obtrusive. In the package are no apps, but links to apps in the AppStore. These are 1$ each (6NOK). Having already paid 50€ for this already (plus customs and VAT for more than €50), this should be free. 3DeeCamera is an iPhone app for taking stereoscopic images. I won't go into detail on this app now, but it works alright for taking dual shots and aligning them to a stereo picture. It might be worth a download if you want to take stereo shots for other displays, such as the Samsung 2233RZ monitor or the 3DInlife media player. Having taken a stereo shot and sliding in the lenticular screen, I was hoping to get an ok 3D effect. This was totally absent, even when trying from a lot of different angles and trying to fit the screen in the right spot. Such a waste! -It doesen't even work!!! I couldn't settle with this conclusion, so I had to take a few more shots. After some trial and error, I got something looking 3D, but the image always had funny colors and had a lot of angeled stripes going across the screen. Still wanting this to work, trying to convice myself that I had made something wrong, I downloaded "Hunter". Hunter is a free game for iPhone from Spatial View, which renders in stereo 3D for the 3DeeShell. I did see some 3D effects on the intro picture of this one, but once the game started all the screen did was to blur things up. I also got sick after playing for half a minute. No win here either. My hope was that this gadget would fit into my tiny collection of sellable stereo 3D gadgets, but that will never happen. I am trying to sell this one I now have, but I guess noone will buy it after this review. |
